Thames Hospicecare

Thames Hospicecare provides the best possible care for patients with terminal or life-limiting illness.

Thames Hospicecare is a palliative care service that provides specialist care for patients with terminal or life-limiting illness. Based at two sites in Windsor and Ascot, it delivers a fully comprehensive range of palliative care services to those who live in East Berkshire, South Buckinghamshire and parts of Middlesex, Surrey and Oxfordshire. This care also provides for the patients’ families and carers.

The Hospice is equipped and staffed to the highest medical and nursing standards and provides relief from symptoms such as pain, anxiety and emotional distress. The care and support to patients and relatives is given in an informal and friendly environment where staff respond to their individual needs. People with terminal or life-limiting illness can benefit from Inpatient care, Daycare and Hospice at Home services.

Thames Hospicecare is a centre of excellence dedicated to giving patients the best possible care to make the most of their lives. Support for the family, whilst caring for a loved one and following bereavement, is an important part of the services provided.

Established in 2005 as a result of a merger of Thames Valley Hospice and The Paul Bevan Cancer Foundation,Thames Hospicecare is a registered charity offering care to people without charge. We recognise and believe in the value and dignity of every human being. Our aim is to provide holistic care and support for adults with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and for their families, friends and carers. This is irrespective of ability, status, origin, sexual orientation, age or belief. We help enable patients to make decisions about the care they receive.

We need friends

Thames Hospicecare is reliant on friends in the local community to provide the generous support that is needed each and every day to continue to provide professional, skilled and gentle care to families affected by cancer and other life limiting illness.

80% of the income needed is raised through fundraising and retailing in the local community.
