Training for Run Across America 2007

The training regime is simple, Long Slow Distance (LSD) 7 times a week. A daily run either to or from work supplemented with cycling are the key elements fof the training programme . The focus is on endurance and these 15 mile training runs with an additional 30-40 miler at wekends should hopefuly provide the necessary basis for a serius attempt at the trans-continental run in March. The commute to work is approximately 15-17 miles (depending onthe route taken). Diverting up Tite Hill in Egham is a useful steep ascent for hill training.

I do not intend to go beyond these 100 mile training weeks fearing injury.

Running with a loaded baby jogger will begin in March.

Races include Tring2Town a 45 mile run along the Grand Union Canal from Tring to Little Venice and the Thames Meander (a 50 mile run from Reading to Shepperton) in February.
